Why It Happens

Common Causes of Neck Pain

Neck pain can result from injury, overuse, age-related changes, or conditions affecting the discs, joints, muscles, and nerves of the cervical spine.

  • Muscle strain or sprain
  • Arthritis
  • Degenerative disc disease
  • Herniated discs
  • Spinal stenosis
  • Pinched or irritated nerves
  • Whiplash or traumatic injury
  • Age-related changes in the cervical spine

Diagnosis

Identifying the Source of Your Neck Pain

Neck pain may come from muscles, joints, discs, or nerves, and an accurate diagnosis is an important first step. Your provider will review your symptoms, medical history, and activity level and perform a focused orthopedic and neurological examination.

Depending on your symptoms, diagnostic testing may include X-rays, MRI imaging, EMG/NCV, or other studies to better understand the structures involved and determine the most appropriate treatment plan.

Treatment Options

Personalized Neck Pain Treatment

Treatment depends on the underlying cause of your neck pain, the severity of your symptoms, and how those symptoms are affecting your daily life. Our team may recommend conservative care, interventional treatment, or surgical options when appropriate.

Physical therapy and activity modification
Anti-inflammatory medication
Cervical epidural steroid injections
Selective nerve root blocks
Facet injections
Radiofrequency ablation
Regenerative medicine (PRP, Stem Cells)
Minimally invasive spine procedures
Spine surgery when appropriate

A Team Approach

From Conservative Care to Spine & joint Surgery

ReVive Orthopedics takes a collaborative approach to care. Depending on your symptoms and diagnosis, you may be evaluated by a general orthopedic physician, physiatrist, interventional pain specialist, spine and joint surgeon, nurse practitioner or physician assistant.

When possible, treatment begins conservatively. If additional intervention becomes necessary, our team offers advanced pain management, minimally invasive procedures, and surgical options so your care can progress based on your individual needs.
